Coldplay have revealed how they judge the quality of their songs - they watch for fans nipping off to the loo.
The Coldplay try to see when people take a toilet break at gigs and then remove the offending tune from the set.Singer Chris Martin, 32, said: "In some songs all you can see is a clear doorway and you can hear the crowd singing, so you think, 'Wonderful, this song is great'.
"And then it's when the light all starts getting blocked and everyone's going to the bathroom. Then you're like 'OK, that song's out'."
The South Bank Show profile on Sunday will also see Coldplay talk for the first time about almost splitting up.
Martin says they sacked drummer Will Champion, 31, after they were signed because they blamed him when a producer said that they weren't good enough.
He was rehired a few days later because they felt "really miserable" without him.
